Director of WEIC, Louise Taylor, was at the station working when the
word was announced by teletype. She talked about how the machines
rang loudly for a long time putting out paper strips of updates on
the assassination. There were many tears in Charleston that day. I
was in high school and we were sent to the auditorium to watch the
one black & white television about the assassination. A friend of
mine said he was glad Kennedy got shot. I did not like that, but
that's the way people were with Kennedy.
