THE BIG NEWS OF THE 60'S-- PRESIDENT JOHN F. KENNEDY IS ASSASSINATED NOVEMBER, 22, 1963

News Director of WEIC, Louise Taylor, was at the station working when the word was announced by teletype.  She talked about how the machines rang loudly for a long time putting out paper strips of updates on the assassination.  There were many tears in Charleston that day.  I was in high school and we were sent to the auditorium to watch the one black & white television about the assassination.  A friend of mine said he was glad Kennedy got shot.  I did not like that, but that's the way people were with Kennedy.
