Dolly Madison Script:
I would like to tell about Dolly Madison's life, through this short story.

My maiden name was Dolly Payne Todd.  I was a twenty-six year old widow with two children when I met James Madison, who was forty-three. (My first husband had died of yellow fever after only three years of marriage). Although  James And I seemed an unlikely match, he soon became my second husband.

I became the First Lady in1809.

During the War of1812 I gave many parties to keep up
morale. But I am credited with an even more significant things.

Immediately before the invading British burned the White House, I saved the original draft of the Constitution and the
Declaration of Independence, along with Stuart's portrait of George Washington.

Here is an excerpt from the original Declaration of Independence:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created

equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable

Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of

Happiness."
