LOCAL POLICE & FIREMEN ON STATE PENSION STUDY

 

Captain Taylor, Dwight Walker and Bill Phipps of the Charleston Police & Fire Departments were join with their own associations in stating that they were pleased with their pension plans "as are." The state was thinking about combining some 23 public pension plans. Captain Taylor stated, "If they get all plans under one heading, it would be easy to change some present benefit." He said a committee from Charleston may be organized to oppose the bill. The hearing had over 500 representatives present.

The '59 HOWE PUMPER truck was placed in the fire hall Wednesday and is now ready for use. Spitz said the main difference between the new truck and the previous one is that faster hookups on the 1-1/2 and 2 inch lines are possible on the new truck.
