New Ladder Truck;  '38 Boyer Retired

NEW & OLD FOR A WHILE:  '38 BOYER MOVED TO NEW FIREHOUSE

The 1938 Boyer parked in the new station at 10th and Madison.  This truck served well and would be used one more time in a major fire (the Rardin fire).  The truck would be retired for use by the water department when the ladder truck was placed in the station in 1967. This picture is a portrait made in about 1962 when the firehouse was new. The truck would eventually be given over to the city water department, and they would use its' pumps.  After that, the old '38 would be sold to someone that placed it into a field near Charleston to rust away.

The '38 would much later be purchased and fully restored to "brand new" condition, and runs in St. Louis, Missouri major city parades.  It was destined to go on regardless of being abandoned and allowed to rust away.
